Go With the (Yoga) Flow

This week I taught a yoga class that was all about transitions and flow. As some of you know, I recently transitioned from the corporate world to contract work. It was a tough decision and one I’ve been dreaming about for a while. And as I’m in middle of this transition, I’m on a journey to discover my own creative flow.

After years of having my schedule drive me, it’s been an ongoing surprise throughout the day when I check myself and realize I’m in the steering wheel. Sure, there are still anchoring events (the classes I’m taking, the yoga classes I’m teaching, kid stuff, projects), but there are also so many opportunities to tweak my day, every day.

So often we push through the “I’ve got to get this done in the next hour” mentality, and sometimes that’s true. But when it’s not, how much more engaged and activated do you feel when you listen to your mind and body input to but your energy to its best use?

Above, you’ll find a #yoganote of a 15-minute regenerative practice on transitions. I’ve practiced this sequence at bedtime to transition to sleep, at lunch to transition to afternoon and as a mid-morning flow to reset my body. Try it when you need to transition into another part of your day, and then let me know what you think!
