The Mindset Makeover, Step 1: Detox Your Dreams

On a recent Saturday I opened up the audible app and was greeted with a podcast rec for an audible original. I’m an audible junkie (there are so many times in the week where I’m on the move and only have time to listen vs. read), so I thought, welp, what a better way to knock out some cleaning before my daughter’s sleepover while listening to a mindfulness podcast.

The podcast, “The 7 Day Mindset Makeover,” hooked me from the start. I LOVE practical nonfiction that delivers real results, and Domonique Bertolucci gives solid, executable tips. A visual representation, or sketch note, of the tips in step 1 appears above.

One essential tip from episode 1: letting go. This means releasing dreams and goals that no longer serve you. It also means that you have freewill—you can be good at something, but this doesn’t obligate you to pursue it.

Mind blown. 🤯 This simple idea gave me permission to pivot my own career to a place that serves my authentic self. It gave me freedom to pursue my next BHAG (Big, Hairy Audacious Goal). It also reinforced the insight I’ve gained in my female entrepreneur group—don’t let loving what you did keep you from loving what you’ll do next.

I’ll admit I binged all seven episodes in an afternoon, and I also downloaded the free ebook that came with the podcast. I’ll share more of my favorite tips from the episodes in a future article.

If you’re an audible subscriber and you give it a listen, tell me what connects with you most.
